Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved through upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in any stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.

Most upgrade components inserted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to save it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged with the glyph shards.
Adding item upgrader to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. Reroll tokens
